Sirius have ordered two new Ice Class 1A, 7999 DWT oil/chemical tankers at AVIC Dingheng shipyard in China.
The design are born from Sirius long experience of building and rebuilding vessels to the standard, what we call “Sirius Standard”. During the past years, Sirius has built and rebuilt numerous vessels, that experience have been combined into a high-performing new design: EVOLUTION.
The 9 623,6 m3 (98%), TIER III Oil Product Tanker for Chemicals (IMO II) and Oil products is designed for low maintenance, low fuel consumption and High performance to the customer. It is constructed for high cargo intake with a density of 1,54 ton/m3 and for SECA area trade. The hull form is designed for good performance in harsh weather conditions.
With these two newbuildings, Sirius is taking the next step for the environment and as a company. The development of the EVOlution series, with focus on fuel economy, green house emissions and working environment proves this statement in cooperation with our customers.

When designing a vessel the aim is to make the everyday operation an easy and safe task, that has been the focus when designing the Evolution series. The forecastle is sheltered and the pipe trunk is fully enclosed for low maintenance and eliminating the risk for leakage of any oil. A knuckle boom crane on deck with a vast range will ensure smooth handling on deck.
With the main operational equipment located in sheltered or enclosed areas ensures that the maintenance and operation will be as efficient as possible.

The propulsion is provided by One low speed 2-stroke Main engine, propeller to be of 4-bladed made of Ni-Al-Bronze and to be of low noise type and delivered as a part of a PROMAS design where the design integrates the propeller, a hubcap, rudder bulb and the rudder itself into a single hydrodynamic efficient unit. In order to save fuel the shaft generator is connected via a frequency converter allowing optimum propeller rpm at various speeds. The Main engine is able to maintain its low specific fuel oil consumption at the different load outtakes, this means that the engine is able to slow steam at a wider range.
